Penumbra is a partner in Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) which is a short term support service for people experiencing distress. The service works through NHS24 where callers experiencing distressing feelings can be referred to support from mental health support practitioners.
How does it work?
NHS24 call handlers will assess someone’s circumstances on an individual basis and can refer people on for support from charities like Penumbra for example. Support is provided by our friendly team of specially trained mental health practitioners. After we receive a referral from NHS24, we normally contact you within 24 hours.
What does support look like?
If you are referred to our team through DBI, our team with work with you to identify plans and tools that you can use to manage your feelings and to avoid future feelings of overwhelm. Many of our team members have lived experience. This means we may have some understanding of what you’re going through and can support you on your journey from a place of compassion.
How do I access support?
